Alaskan Poppies

Sorry for the picture quality. My camera was not available. Here is a quick, "don't think about it too much", painting. Sometimes when I get in a slump, putting bright color on a canvas can liven me back up.
Enjoy,

Meet Eva.
This is a painting that I started a while ago at my friend Angie's house. She was having a girl's paint day and.....out came Eva. She will now be glazed, framed and sent to Richard Cable Interiors.http://www.richardcableinteriors.com/ There she will hang until she catches someone's eye. I am really having a hard time letting go of her. She has been on my easel for a while and I feel as if I know her.

Banana Bay

Banana Bay
10 x 10 acrylic & ink on wrapped canvas

I have to say, the place we are staying is beautiful. It is called Banana Bay and has it's own little private beach.. This morning I took a walk down to the sandy oasis and decided to draw. The sound of the water gently lapping up on shore and the boats headed down the waterway to their destinations is eye catching. I think I could sit and do nothing in this little spot for hours.

The panoramic view seemed hard to capture. So I decided to tilt the canvas for a more accurate depiction......My writing sound a little weird this morning :( Don't know what is up with that!

Anyway, I did this one in the same style as some of my pen and water color small paintings. It is not quite finished...but thought you all might like to see.

Enjoy!

Hot Pink Lady

Hot Pink Lady
By Michele Lee
10x24 acrylic on wrapped canvas

Woke up this morning wanting to paint.
When we checked in to our beach house the other day we were greeted by a 3 foot tall pink flamingo. Statue...not real. LOL For some reason I am always attracted to flamingos. You know the kind you see in souvenir shops with the colorful glasses on or the wobbly heads. There is something about the whimsical nature of them. I guess they are so out of the ordinary and REALLY not the norm. Maybe that is the attraction. Or maybe it is my ego that says, "look at me ...I am different". Who knows. I do know that I am always and forever a sucker for pink. Like the color of my skin right now. (note to self: on first day at beach...put on some sunscreen) I have officially gotten my first sunburn of the season. OUCH! That may be the inspiration for painting the "Hot Pink Lady". LOL

I have also started a painting of oysters, yum, I will post that later.

Enjoy!

Here is a painting that I sold last night. It is called "Sassy". She was painted at the Art Retreat I went to a few months back with my friend Angie.

She will be missed...but I know she is going to a wonderful home :-)

Ahhhh, painting again

For a while now it has been painting for clients or finishes on walls or murals. Tonight I sat down for a bit and picked up "my" paintbrush and got a little fun painting done on a girl I had started a while back. (can' see what kind of hair yet,but I am sure it will come)
I need to get little warmed up to the canvas again. Next week I am off to an art retreat with a friend of mine. I can't wait to paint, for the joy of it, for a whole week! I really miss the feeling of getting lost in the moment and the joy it brings to my soul. Ahhhhhh, painting again.

Enjoy!

New Location for Art!

I was contacted by Debby of FastFrame.
She asked if I would be willing to bring some art down and sell it through her store. I was very happy to do it.So here are some of the pieces I took to her. She will be selling them in her shop.
There are a total of 7 small 5x7 watercolors and 2 larger pieces (Safety and Her things)
If you are in the area and get a chance, stop by and take a look or....just say hi to Deb. She is very talented with her framing! She can make the smallest piece of art look like a masterpiece!
Thanks Debby for the opportunity.

Jackson Pollock Update and new girl!

On Jackson Pollock's Birthday, a few of us got together and had a great paint day. There were some girls I hadn't seen in a while and a new one who seemed to enjoy herself quite a lot! Thanks for joining us Noelle. I hope you come again. You are a nice fit :) and a heck of a painter! Some girls painted while others knitted or crocheted...I'm not real sure. Those two confuse me. Our host Angie made a lunch to die for! See her finished piece at http://pickmybrainsart.blogspot.com/
I am so thankful to have such great women in my life. Thanks guys for always being there. YOU ROCK!!!!
I started a new painting. Here is a hint of that along with some pictures of the day.

Christmas Sale!

SOLD

Her Garden
5X7 varnished watercolor & ink on board
framed
by Michele Lee
$50.00 usd

I thought that since Christmas was approaching, I would give the gift of free tax/shipping! So, for the next few weeks, I will be posting a few pieces for sale directly from my site. And I will pay the tax and shipping no matter where it goes!

So let us start the shopping with this little piece. It is titled Her Garden. On a trip to Asheville ,NC, my husband and I saw a scene similar to this in someones back yard. I just knew that it had to belong to a beautiful woman and this was her retreat.

It is done in a technique that I do from time to time with watercolor and ink. It has been varnished and is framed in a 3in black wood frame. Ready to hang.

Enjoy!

Secret....Some time during this month there will be a give a way, so keep your eyes open.
